Multicultural Day: Ethiopia!
Students turned in Mandalas; Students created Mandalas and then wrote positive attributes about each other to further strengthen the community bond. Ethiopians value families and interconnectedness. In their culture, they use Mandalas to symbolize family.
Students began Pictorial Creation Myths. The Ethiopian culture is rich in folklore, especially different creation myths. During pre-history, tribes could not write down traditions or stories, so they used pictures to represent their culture. Mirroring this, students pictorially created their own creation stories and will orally tell these stories to the class.
